The art of Fabric Sculpting was introduced to Eastern Canada by Dutch-born artist, Tineke Doornbosch.
It's a Dutch art that Tineke learned in Holland and recently brought to Canada. It's the ultimate in re-cycling. What better way to give lasting life to your old T-Shirts and Grandma's old Doilies? We convert them (or show you how to convert them) into durable outdoor/indoor fabric sculptures which we lovingly call 'Garden Spirits'.
Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind sculpture. Most can be left outside all year round.. summer and winter. They are virtually weather impervious.
Garden Spirits may be made from the most ordinary of materials found around the house.. or from exotic heirloom material. Either way, they evoke a sense of peace, calm and simplicity.
Best of all- "They make you smile!!
Placed near a pond, a path, a garden, a brook. In a kitchen, a den, on a shelf, in a nook. With sedentary grace, each figure will cry: "I am your Spirit... a new friend to sit by".
